Conference to Examine Issue of Race and Education
From Ascribe Newsfeed:
The Race and Pedagogy National Conference will be held at University of Puget Sound on September 14 - 16, 2006, bringing together experts and academics from across the nation for a groundbreaking discussion on the impact of race and ethnicity in higher education.
To broaden the dialogue and more fully represent many points of view, the conference also will include local educators, students, parents, and community leaders.
"We want to involve many voices in this debate, and help create partnerships, as we consider how to improve the racial-cultural experiences of all students and prepare them for the realities of a global economy," said Professor Dexter Gordon, chair of the conference and of the African American Studies program at University of Puget Sound.
He earned his master's and doctorate degrees from Princeton University.
