Newswire/ -- President Bush today praised the accomplishments of Community Health Centers at a press conference aimed at highlighting his FY 2007 Budget.
The President called the health centers program "something that is working," and touted his proposed 10 percent, or $181 million increase, for the program.
The President went on to say of health centers, "Their mission is to provide effective health care for the poor and the indigent.
And so (the health centers program) is one that we've embraced.
We have found that these health centers work really well.
And so they analyzed the cost, relative to the benefit, and (found) it's worthwhile to fund these.
And so the budget that I'm submitting...has a 10 percent increase for community health centers."
The President also singled out the Administration's new web site, http://www.expectmore.gov.
The Administration launched the site to rate federal programs according to their performance and bring more accountability and transparency to government.
The site goes on to explain that health centers have achieved this rating because they "set ambitious goals, achieve results, are well-managed and improve efficiency."
