Ways and Means Committee Proposes Deep Cuts in Child Support Funding

The Committee on Ways and Means has proposed deep cuts to the federal matching rate for child support services, which would severely reduce states' ability to collect child support for low- and moderate-income families. This brief outlines why the child support program is a sound investment-collecting $4.38 in child support for every public dollar spent-and how much funding each state stands to lose if the proposed cuts are enacted. 3 pages.
