Coalition on Human Needs:
Yesterday, the House and Senate finished their versions of the budget. These budgets provide the framework that the Obama Administration and we, as advocates, can work with to advance our key priorities, like health care reform, investments in education, and services and jobs for low-income people. The House passed its budget, 233-196. The Senate voted 55 to 43 for its budget. These budget resolutions do not hand us the health care and other policies we need - but they bring us important steps closer to our goals.
Please thank the Representatives and Senators who voted for the budget. You can send them a thank you note here: http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/125/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=26994. To see how your members of Congress voted go to: http://chn.org/pdf/2009/BudgetResvotes.pdf.
We will be sending a full description of the two budgets in our Human Needs Report on Monday, and through our webinar on Tuesday, April 7 at 3pm eastern time. You can still register for the webinar, but, hurry space is limited. Register here: https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/801292624.
