From Ascribe Newsfeed: June 2008 is Funding for the Environment Month at the Foundation Center, the first time the Center has devoted an entire month to the information needs of nonprofits engaged in activities related to the environment. Throughout the month the Center will host free events and classes in all five of its regional centers to help environmental organizations become better grantseekers and increase their funding. Special programs include such topics as: a June 2 webinar with grantmakers from across the country on funding for the environment and animal welfare, a "reality grantmaking" event in San Francisco, and a three-part "Go Green" series in Atlanta. "With the increasing urgency of news related to climate change, the global food crisis, and the need to adopt sustainability practices, nonprofit organizations and philanthropic institutions are rising to the challenge," said Janet Camarena, director of the Center's San Francisco office.
