Former Congressman Rob Portman to Receive Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America's National Leadership Award

From Ascribe Newsfeed:

Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), the national voice for 5,000 drug prevention organizations around the country, today will present former Congressman Rob Portman with the 2008 National Leadership Award.

Prior to that, Director Portman served as a Representative of the Second District of Ohio in the U.S. Congress, where he was instrumental in the development and funding of the Drug-Free Communities Program, one of the most important pieces of legislation for community anti-drug coalitions.

For more than a decade, I've had the opportunity to work with wonderful people - legislators, teachers, parents, community leaders, coaches and kids - to reverse the trend of substance abuse in our communities.

CADCA will present Director Portman with the 2008 National Leadership Award during an awards luncheon at CADCA's 18th Annual National Leadership Forum today at 12:30 p.m. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. CADCA's National Leadership Forum is the nation's leading training conference for community coalition advocates and substance abuse professionals, featuring more than 100 workshops on some of today's most pressing prevention issues.

CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America), is the national membership organization representing coalitions working to make America's communities safe, healthy and drug-free.

CADCA's mission is to build and strengthen the capacity of community coalitions by providing technical assistance and training, public policy advocacy, media strategies and marketing programs, conferences, and special events.
