Episcopal Community Services (ECS) will hold an official groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the agency's newest supportive housing site, Bishop Swing Community House, on Feb. 13, 2007, 11:30 a.m. at the corner of Folsom and Dore Alley in San Francisco.
ECS is a leading nonprofit provider of shelter, housing and social services for homeless families and individuals in San Francisco.
ECS is proud to announce that Bishop Swing Community House will be one of the first multi-unit projects serving formerly homeless people that will also be recognized as a green building by the LEED Homes Pilot Program.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is a nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings.
ECS is developing this project in partnership with Housing Services Affiliate of the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center, San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing, San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, California Department of Housing and Community Development, Enterprise Community Investment, Federal Home Loan Bank, Silicon Valley Bank, Union Bank of California, Catholic Healthcare West, Corporation for Supportive Housing, Bay Area Local Initiatives Support Corporation, Low Income Investment Fund, Goldfarb & Lipman LLP, Community Economics, Inc., Herman & Oliver Architecture, Cahill Contractors, Inc., Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes Pilot Program, Caritas Management Corporation, Citizens Housing Corporation, and the SOMA Leadership Council (partial listing).
