Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America today released the following media advisory.
More than 1,000 community leaders from across the country will rally on Capitol Hill on Feb. 12, 2008 to stress the importance of substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery programs, and to urge Congress to fund key prevention initiatives.
This annual gathering of 3,000 community prevention leaders and concerned citizens is the largest substance abuse conference of its kind.
The rally will feature Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-1st/RI), one of the nation's leading champions for substance abuse prevention, treatment and recovery.
Also that day, several members of Congress will address conference participants during the Opening Keynote & Capitol Hill Plenary session.
Members of Congress will update participants on current legislation aimed at preventing or reducing alcohol and other drugs, and CADCA will present Congressman Jim Ramstad (R-3rd/MN) with its Congressional Leadership Award.
The event will feature a keynote address by Dr. Drew Pinsky, a board-certified addiction medicine specialist and popular radio and television host.
