Robert Buckley, Urban Development Policy Expert, Joins Rockefeller Foundation as Managing Director

From Ascribe Newsfeed:

Rockefeller Foundation President Judith Rodin announced today that Robert M. Buckley is joining the Foundation as a Managing Director.

Formerly Lead Economist at The World Bank in Washington, D.C., Buckley, 59, is currently an adviser on urban housing for the institution.

Buckley, who has been with The World Bank since 1986, has led the development of new approaches to understanding the ramifications of rapidly increasing urbanization in the developing world.

Commenting on Buckley's appointment, Judith Rodin, President of the Rockefeller Foundation, said, "Bob Buckley is widely recognized as a leading and creative thinker in housing and urban development.

Prior to joining The World Bank, Buckley served as the Chief Economist for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C., and taught at a number of universities such as: the Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies, the Maxwell School at Syracuse University, and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

The Foundation supports work internationally to expand opportunities for poor and vulnerable people and to help ensure that the benefits of globalization are shared more widely.
