Its comprehensive information on grantmakers located in Vermont as well as out-of-state funders who give in Vermont is also useful for foundations and others interested in the philanthropic sector.
To publish the directory, the VCF collaborated with the Foundation Center, a New York-based nonprofit that maintains a comprehensive database of U.S. grantmakers and their associated grants.
"We are always looking for ways in which we can help nonprofits and other charitable partners achieve their missions by providing them with the knowledge, the skills, and the tools to be strategic," he says.
The newest edition of the directory, which is available on the Foundation's web site (http://www.vermontcf.org/), builds on the success of a publication that was started more than 20 years ago by Vermont fundraising consultant Christine Graham.
The online version of the directory launched by the VCF and the Foundation Center allows grantseekers to quickly sort through hundreds of grantmakers using criteria such as field of interest, type of grantmaker, type of support, total giving, and geographic focus.
"We're so pleased that we had the opportunity to work with the Vermont Community Foundation on this project," says Sara Engelhardt, president of the Foundation Center.
The VCF helps Vermont-focused philanthropists, organizations, and businesses cultivate their love of giving to the community by helping them learn, lead, and grow through their philanthropy.
