The economic impact of local living wages

Prior to the passage of living wage laws, initial studies of their impact predicted high costs to local governments, employers, and consumers, as well as a loss of jobs for low-income earners. But the most reliable research on living wage ordinances belies these predictions, showing that these ordinances benefit working families with little or no negative effects.
