Bush's Tax and Budget Policies Fail to Promote Economic Growth

The economic evidence is clear: the president's tax changes have not worked to improve the health of the economy. Business investment, employment, and wages have all underperformed similar periods in the past. A new report by the Economic Policy Institute and the Center for American Progress shows that tax cuts for high-income individuals, for businesses, and for income from capital gains and dividends have not led to more investment, more jobs, or better growth. Moreover, the president's budget policies put at risk the future health of the nation by running massive deficits and by cutting back on important national investments in education, science, and energy.
